Redeeming Your Goals

Redeeming Your Goals is the PERFECT sequel to Redeeming Your Time. If you thought Jordan Raynor gave great advice on time management, wait until you read his principles for achieving your goals WITH God, LIKE God, and FOR God!

With so many self-help books available on a wide range of subjects, it can be difficult to know which one to choose. However, that’s the beauty of Jordan Raynor’s writing. He is a pro at incorporating other people’s expertise into his own theories while grounding everything in the Bible. Redeeming Your Goals is not another self-help book with the sole aim of improving readers’ lifestyles; it’s a roadmap through Scripture demonstrating how God calls EVERY believer to live: with our eyes solely on the One who made all of this possible, Jesus Christ (Yeshua HaMashiach)!

“As Christians, we don’t pursue goals in a wild-goose chase to get love. We pursue them as a worshipful response to the love that is secure through Christ alone. That is our motivation for not wasting our potential.” ~ Jordan Raynor

I’ve been a fan of Jordan’s work for years, and he has once again proven why he’s my favorite non-fiction writer. He has an incredible gift for making his books feel like a sit-down coaching session rather than mere words on a page. He’s funny, relatable, and a living testament to everything he’s proposing. Each chapter dives into the highs and lows of goal setting and why so many of us struggle to achieve our bHAGs (Big Hairy Audacious Goals). Even if readers don’t put every practice into effect, there is undoubtedly something within the pages of Redeeming Your Goals that will propel them further into the work God has laid out for them!

“Your existence is justified not by what you do but by what Christ did for you on the cross.” ~ Jordan Raynor

I highlighted so many helpful nuggets of wisdom and observations while reading Redeeming Your Goals, but it’s the book’s core message that continues to stick with me every single day: Are we working FOR God, LIKE God, and WITH God?! The Lord might’ve placed a specific calling on our hearts or revealed our life’s purpose — to glorify Him and serve others — but too often we get stuck going through the motions in an attempt to PLEASE God that we forget to invite Him to PARTICIPATE in our daily tasks!! I used to think that I was being “faithful” by devoting my time to mastering the talent God has given me and using it to spread His light; however, our work shouldn’t become a substitute for our time with the Lord — even if that work is in ministry. The Lord used Jordan Raynor’s words to reveal how warped my perception of His love and my worth had become. I was so set on “Redeeming My Goals” that I neglected to include the Redeemer in my plans.

“REDEMPTIVE QUEST: a goal that honors our Redeemer in Who you pursue it with (God), how you pursue it (in line with God’s commands), and why you pursue it (for the glory of God and the good of others).” ~ Jordan Raynor

There is a genuine motivation on Jordan’s part to help more people achieve their goals, and I’m sure many will see a significant increase in their accomplishments after reading Redeeming Your Goals. For me, however, this book actually inspired me to slow down and release control of my every hour and plan, allowing God to lead rather than trying to wrangle every minute into submission.

I used to believe that if I never accomplished any of my bHAGs within my lifetime, God would call me a failure, but that’s simply not the case. Now, don’t get me wrong, we SHOULD walk in the calling God has placed on our lives and not become lazy in how we steward our time, but we mustn’t make it the foundation of our relationship with Jesus (Yeshua). If we do, everything we build upon it will surely crumble when the storm comes. It’s only when we let go of that false pressure and actively cultivate our relationship with our Savior, keeping our eyes on Him, that I truly believe we will accomplish our bHAGS!

“While working to earn someone’s favor is exhausting, working in response to God’s unconditional favor is intoxicating.” ~ Jordan Raynor

I’m so excited for Redeeming Your Goals to be released and for more people to be motivated to stop going through the motions and start truly living with our Creator, because He truly cares about everything we do and wants to be a part of it all!
