Finishing a fabulous, moving story has to be one of the most satisfying feelings a reader can experience. Nicole Deese, Author remains one of my favorite contemporary writers because her novels are always relatable and lovable without becoming so far-fetched that readers will be unable to connect. Her writing sweeps me away, and I could feel her heart in her latest release, The Roads We Follow, as she put another piece of herself into the storyline. Through authentic and simplistic writing, the story delves into the importance of family, finding peace with your past, and trusting God to pave the road ahead. Readers will be captivated by this second installment of the Fog Harbor Romance series as they meet the Farrow family and embark on a road trip across America that could either make or break their relationships. While The Roads We Follow is categorized as a romance, it becomes so much more as readers discover the unbreakable bond between Luella and Lynn and how their journey to stardom brings their families together. There is also a powerful God element that is more front and center than Nicole’s other books. I really appreciated this aspect as she portrayed spiritually mature characters struggling with realistic problems finding peace in God rather than people. After all, our Savior is the glue that holds us together, and you could feel His hand over the character’s lives, orchestrating their stories.The Roads We Follow will stick in my mind for a while. Hope radiates from the pages as each character seeks God’s plans for their lives. I believe God brought this book into my life at just the right time to remind me that He knows my heart and is answering my prayers in His timing. What do Monopoly and John 10:9 have in common?For many of us, Monopoly evokes traumatizing memories, especially when our opponents buy up all the houses and hotels. With sweaty palms, we roll the dice, praying to land on Free Parking for a much-needed reprieve. Over the years, various versions of Monopoly have emerged, with my favorite being Horse-Opoly. In this version, Free Parking becomes Pasture. I can’t tell you the relief I felt each time I landed on Pasture after narrowly avoiding the bankrupting rent prices of the other properties (or horses, in this case). For one turn, I could rest and restore my funds before diving back into the game.Thankfully, we don’t have to rely on the roll of a dice to find rest in God’s pasture. As John 10:9 says, Jesus/Yeshua is the gate through which we can freely come and go, equipping us with everything we need to live life to the fullest. However, are we actively seeking His pasture?We live in a time where information, entertainment, and noise make it hard to be still at the end of the day. Every step feels like we’re landing on another property with a house or hotel, draining us of our resources and energy. It’s no wonder we’re so exhausted! In the horse world, horses enter the pasture for an evening of grazing, play, and rest after a long day’s work. If horses need this respite after a hard day, don’t you think we do too?Satan wants to convince us that we have to work ourselves to the bone, ignoring the gift of the Lord’s pasture. After nine months of war and tension, finding pockets of rest in God’s pasture has been wonderful, restoring my peace and strength after another day of red alerts and more bad news. The Lord’s pasture is a gift, but there is a gate for a reason and work still to be done, so once our strength and mind reset, it’s time to return to the world of chaos.Are you tired? The gate always stays open, with Yeshua waiting to unload your burdens and replenish your soul for the coming days. Well this morning was eventful! Hezbollah launched over 200 missiles into the north, causing damage and fires! Thankfully most were intercepted and it doesnt sound like anyone was killed. However, this report came in tonight:🚨 *SPECIAL NORTHERN REPORT: HAIFA PREPARES FOR WAR* 🚨Channel 12 reported that Rambam Hospital in Haifa, Northern Israel's largest city, is preparing for an extreme scenario involving missile impacts every four minutes for 50-60 days. The hospital is setting up a fortified underground space capable of treating 2,000 patients, including 24 operating rooms. According to the hospital director, the entire medical center can move underground within eight hours. Additionally, a dedicated train will facilitate the transfer of wounded to central Israel hospitals in the event of mass casualties.Haifa is also preparing 16 underground parking lots to serve as bomb shelters during a large conflict. Pepper D. Basham’s epic Skymar trilogy ends with fireworks in this dazzling final installment, Loyally, Luke. I honestly can’t believe how perfect this series has become. The humor, romance, movie references, characters, and storytelling were top-notch. From the first chapter, the writing hooks you with its charm and comedy. Each book starts off light and fun, but within the feel-good rom-com tropes lie impacting messages that bring depth and heart to the plot.I was really curious how Pepper Basham would write Luke’s story. After reading the first two books, readers will know how much he abhors technology and romance. Yet, Pepper deftly handles this challenge with grace and brilliance, taking us into the mind of this grumpy, black-coffee-loving, flannel-wearing countryman. The combination of texts and storytelling was perfect, making Luke’s internal journey and interactions all the more relatable and entertaining.A standout aspect of this novel was how it handled adult topics with sensitivity and realism. Ellie’s past is messy, but her transformative journey is relatable. Pepper Basham’s portrayal of mature love was also refreshing. Luke and Ellie’s relationship was driven by more than passion and attraction; it was underscored with respect, understanding, and a realistic approach to life’s priorities. While most romances show protagonists sacrificing everything for their love interest Loyally, Luke showed that while every relationship comes with sacrifice, it’s admirable to hold tight to your family and duties. Fairytales are great fun to read, but (as Luke so often pointed out) they aren’t real. Not everyone has the privilege of living happily ever after, and this aspect of the story was really authentic, setting it apart from traditional romance narratives.Loyally, Luke ticked all the boxes and brought this series to the perfect close — you will be satisfied with everyone’s ending.
