Word of Encouragement: Psalm 8

How majestic is the name of the Lord?! The other day, I was meditating on Psalm 8 when I recalled the last time I was truly in awe of the Lord and His creation. Three years ago, on a trip to South Africa, I stood at the bow of a boat looking out at the crystal waters where whales, sharks, seals, and penguins were swimming beneath the surface. In a moment of utter wonderment, I heard the Lord proudly declare, “I made this. This is Mine. What you are witnessing is only a portion of My wonder!” WOW!

Our God deserves all our praise and glory, yet we often get so caught up in the busyness of life that we forget to appreciate the blessings and love surrounding us. We don’t need to travel to the other side of the world to experience the Lord’s majesty; open your eyes, and you’ll see the Lord’s hand in everything around you!

When was the last time you felt a sense of awe? Take time today to read Psalm 8 and praise the Lord for His wonder and care!

“Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!”
Psalms 8:1-9
