Do you think you are enough?
Shame hits us all differently. You might feel ashamed for moving away from God and awakening passions too soon. You might have taken on the guilt of a parent’s decision to leave. Or, you might believe the lie the enemy whispers in your ears that you are unworthy when you decide to come back to the Father, broken and with seemingly nothing to offer.
If you are struggling with any of these things, I want you to read the following words carefully: YOU are worthy! YOU are made new! YOU are forgiven! YOU are chosen! YOU are beloved by a God who has seen everything! YOU ARE ENOUGH!
No matter what you’ve faced, done, or gone through, Yeshua/Jesus promises to accept and restore you, no matter what your past looks like. The shame you once had no longer needs to hold you back from receiving the future God has in store for you!
As I was reading Freely and Lightly by Emily Lex, she used a scene from The Lion King to describe finding identity when shame cripples us from moving into the calling God has placed on our hearts. Emily writes, “The only way Simba can take on his rightful identity is to look past his reflection—the worries and fears, the titles and failures—and see his father. The same is true for us.”
If you look past the memories that bring shame or discouragement and turn your sight to the One who wore that sin and shame on the cross for YOU, your perspective will change! What lies has the enemy been leading you to believe? Through faith in the Messiah, you can be made new, and the lies that once held you back will turn into the promises of love and faithfulness that are written throughout Scripture! Shame no longer needs to hold onto you! Do you receive this?
“‘The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,’ that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, ‘Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.’”~ Romans 10:8-11
