It’s devastating to receive a notification about fallen soldiers, but the news hits even harder when you recognize a name or face! 💔 My grandfather taught Aviel and his brother how to play ping pong when they were in school🏓 Though I barely knew Aviel, I’ve spent time with his family over the years, and my thoughts and prayers are with them as they mourn this unexpected loss. What are you asking the Lord for today? Patience? Joy? A new job? These are all good and worthy things to bring before our Heavenly Father. But as I was recently reading Eric Gilmour’s book Jesus is Enough, one line struck me: “He [Jesus] is the answer you need… It’s in Him that all consists! Look to Jesus [and] He will be all of those other things.”This truth is powerfully captured in Matthew 6:33: “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Though I’ve read this verse many times, it was only this week that I grasped its wisdom. When we fix our eyes on Jesus — making Him the center of our lives — and prioritize His Kingdom’s work above all else, everything we need and pray for falls into place according to His perfect will. Why? Because Yeshua (Jesus) is everything we could ever need!Too often, we focus on what we lack, the pressures of the day, or the specific answers we’re waiting for. While bringing these requests to the Lord is important, the Bible doesn’t call us to remain in a posture of worry or self-focus. Instead, we’re invited to lift our eyes to Jesus, trusting He’s already heard our petitions. As we walk in obedience, He will establish our steps. It’s in beholding Him — His beauty, His sufficiency, His love — that everything else fades into its proper perspective.In chapter two of Jesus is Enough, Eric Gilmour asks this convicting question: “What is more attractive to you than spending time with Jesus?” Take a moment to reflect on that today. What is shifting your gaze away from God? Is Jesus truly at the center of your heart and your day? If not, come back to Him. He’s waiting, and He is always enough.“We live by looking. When I stop looking at Him, I stop seeing Him. When I stop seeing Him, I stop desiring Him. As the Festival of Lights begins, I find myself reflecting on the deeper meaning of Hanukkah. It’s not about the traditions or gifts, but about consecrating ourselves before the Lord and shining the light of Yeshua (Jesus) into a dark, lost world. When the Maccabees reclaimed Jerusalem and the Temple from the Seleucids, their first act was to remove the false gods defiling God’s holy place. They cleansed, rededicated, and illuminated the Temple, using the menorah to shine as a testament to God’s glory and faithfulness. One of my favorite things to do during Hanukkah when I’m in Israel is walk through the streets and see the menorahs shining brightly in the windows. Today, as believers, we are called to be like those menorahs, visible beacons of light piercing into the night. Yeshua’s sacrifice on the cross made us His temple, a dwelling place for the Holy Spirit. In John 8:12, Jesus said, “I am the light of the world.” And in Matthew 5:14, He tells us, “You are the light of the world.” We are living beacons of the hope and truth found in the Messiah, reflecting His light for all to see and wonder what sets us apart.So, this Hanukkah, let’s ask ourselves: Are there idols defiling our hearts that we’re placing above God? Maybe it’s pride, distractions, fear, worry, social media, or selfish desires. Whatever they may be, let’s surrender them to the Lord and allow Him to cleanse our hearts so we may shine brighter than ever before!Chag Sameach! Have you ever held onto a backup plan just in case things didn’t work out? It feels safe, right? But sometimes, our “Plan B” is another way of maintaining control — a lifeline to ensure we still hold the reins, even while saying we trust God.I found myself there recently. For years, I said I’d follow God wherever He leads, but the Lord revealed that I had a rope tied around my waist. This month, God called me to untie it, let go of my Plan B, and trust Him fully.After returning to the UK in July, I thought my time here was temporary. But when my flight back to Israel was repeatedly canceled, the Lord used a friend to challenge me: Was God asking me to surrender the safety net I was clinging to? Letting go wasn’t easy, but I released my grip, stopped rebooking, and trusted His perfect plan.Though my heart remains connected to Israel, I know I’m exactly where I need to be. I don’t know what the future holds, but I’m ready to embrace this season in Wales open-handedly and trust the Lord to lead me. No more stopwatches or fallback plans.What about you?
