“He called down famine on the land and destroyed all their supplies of food; and he sent a man before them— Joseph, sold as a slave. They bruised his feet with shackles, his neck was put in irons, till what he foretold came to pass, till the word of the Lord proved him true. The king sent and released him, the ruler of peoples set him free. He made him master of his household, ruler over all he possessed, to instruct his princes as he pleased and teach his elders wisdom.” ~ Psalms 105:16-22
Each one of us has a unique testimony to share. It might not be as drastic as Joseph’s, but it’s equally important and inspiring! As we go through life, the Lord introduces us to people and situations to help us grow and fulfill the plans placed on our hearts. It can be tempting to dwell on the pain we’ve gone through, but I’m learning that the Lord wants us to hold onto the wonders He has done and praise Him come rain or shine!
In Psalm 105, we read about the Lord’s promises never failing. From Abraham to Moses, He honored His covenant and restored His people for His glory and praise. Each section of this psalm has something to glean, but it was Jospeh’s account in verses 16-22 that stood out to me. Jospeh’s life is a powerful example of God using the most difficult circumstances for the good. Joseph went through hell, yet years of slavery, imprisonment, and hardships didn’t cause him to forget the promises the Lord had given him.
Sometimes, we wonder why bad things happen to us, especially after God has promised us so much; however, look at Joseph! If his brothers hadn’t sold him into slavery, how else would God’s provision have come to pass?
There is a purpose in our sufferings. We might not understand why we have to face certain trials or walk through dark valleys, but our Heavenly Father does, and He promises to walk with us every step of the way!
Have you lost hope today? Are you crying out to God, “Why is this happening to me?” Then, I want to encourage you to hold onto the truth that the Lord’s not done with you yet! No matter how hard things seem, He is with you and will supply everything you need to make it through this season.
Meditate on Psalm 105 today, soaking in the reality that we serve a faithful God whose word is ALWAYS yes and amen!
